Company Life

The growth of Mlada Boleslav and the automaker have been closely linked for more than 100 years. Škoda Auto takes up more than about a third of the town’s area and is an integral part of it. The main production work has gradually been moved to new parts of the factory and the original building of the old factory, which has retained its identity, is now of the edge of the site – forming a natural interface between the automaker and the town around it.

Museum
The Škoda Auto Museum was opened in 1995 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the company’s foundation. It arose through the modernisation of the original buildings of the Laurin & Klement plant, which, in addition of a lot of exhibition and meeting space, also contain a universal theatre and congress hall.

Customer centre
Since 1999 the dominant architectural and planning element on the company’s premises in Mlada Boleslav has been the Škoda Auto Customer Centre, which was built on the site of a dilapidated factory hall near the Škoda Auto Museum. The project was designed by architect Michal Hlava?ek (as was the Škoda Auto Museum).

Škoda Auto Technological Centre
The Škoda Auto technological centre is an independent complex on the Jizera River, which flows through Mlada Boleslav. Technological development buildings will be erected (in 2009) nearby on former industrial and storage premises. With regard to the location of the flood zone, the whole building will be on piles.

Vocational College
The building in which the Škoda Auto Vocational College of mechanical engineering is currently based was built in 1927. It was then the "new" body workshop.
