Environmentally-friendly car production

The permanent target of Škoda Auto is to offer world-class automobiles whose production entails only a minimum burden for the environment. Despite the fact that Škoda Auto, since its merger with VW in 1991, has increased production approximately threefold, the absolute level of the burden on the environment has not increased. On the contrary, in some indexes, such as water consumption and emissions, there has been a discernible decline.

This was achieved by means of massive investments in environmental protection, which reached CZK 9.8 billion over a period of 17 years and were directed mainly at the modernisation of energy sources, construction of top-class body paint shops, wastewater recycling plants, protection of the soil and underground water and energy-saving measures.

Škoda Auto has fulfilled and fulfils all the requirements of legislation for increased economy ahead of time. In the last 5 years, the company has not been subjected to any sanctions and has not even been subjected to administrative proceedings to remedy discrepancies in the area of environmental protection.
