For Škoda TDI (turbo diesel) vehicles you will need to use SICZ diesel. Please do not use a biodiesel under any circumstances.
For FSI (petrol) or Turbo FSI (turbo petrol) you can use 98 or 95 Unleaded. Škoda Australia recommends that you use 98 as this will get even more kilometres out of your tank as well as being gentle on your engine, which, in the long run, will prolong the life of your vehicle.

Your warranty will not be voided should you modify your vehicle in a way that is not listed as a ‘warranty voiding’ item. Should you for example, put a chip in your engine, or fit extremely large tyres to your vehicle, this will void your warranty.
Should you want to modify your vehicle, please contact your local dealer who will be only too happy to discuss this matter with you and provide the best possible advice. To contact your local dealer and service centre please click here.
Your Škoda New Vehicle Warranty will not be voided should you get your Škoda serviced elsewhere. However, we would always recommend that a Škoda dealer is used as they receive full factory training in the servicing of Škoda vehicles and are kept up-to-date with the latest technical information. Having a service completed at a non-franchised dealer will not in itself invalidate the warranty. However, should any difficulty arise that is deemed to be as a direct result of incorrect/incomplete servicing, any remedial work required would not be covered under your new vehicle warranty.

You should check the pressure in your tyres regularly, at least every two weeks. Incorrect tyre pressure can seriously affect your car and result in blown tyres, accidents, injury and fatal injury. You should always have your tyres inflated to the correct tyre pressure including the spare tyre. Having the right tyre pressures will improve your fuel efficiency and provide optimal handling. You should also ensure that each tyre has a protective valve cap to avoid dust and moisture accumulating in the valve. While you are checking your tyres, check also for any cuts, bulges abrasions and or excessive wear and tear. We also recommend that you keep any grease, oil and fuel off the tyres. If you are having any doubts about the state of your tyres, please contact your local dealer & service centre. When I rotate my Tyres, should I include the spare or just rotate the 4 road wheels?
This matter usually creates a great deal of earnest discussion from parties with opposing points of view. Generally speaking the Industry recommends that the spare wheel (excluding temporary spare wheels) is included in your tyre rotation schedule. The rationale behind this is that including the spare wheel will usually extend the useful life of the tyres before replacement is necessary. The second reason is that tyre technology is constantly improving and if the spare tyre is not replaced at the same time as the other tyres it may not have the same level of performance as the new road tyres that are fitted to the vehicle. This could result in unpredictable tyre performance during wet weather or vehicle handling irregularities when the tyre is running on the road.
Brakes are a very important safety feature of every Škoda that enables you to slow or stop your vehicle at any given moment. Škoda genuine bake pads have been designed and tested to best suit your vehicle. At every Škoda inspection service the brakes are checked and tested. The life of your brake pads greatly depends on your individual driving style or the environment you drive in. If you regularly use the brakes hard, the lifetime will be reduced and vice versa. In the interest of safety, if you notice any of the following, visit your local dealer & service centre as soon as possible: • The brake pedal becomes spongy. • The brake pedal is pushed to the floor before taking affect. • Under braking you notice shuddering, jolting or the vehicle pulling to one side. • Unusual squeaking, grinding or unfamiliar noises while braking. Your vehicles braking system should be checked and maintained at regular service intervals. A brake fluid reservoir is located underneath the bonnet. Please refer to your owners handbook for exact location. The brake fluid level can be visually inspected. If the fluid level is below the minimum marker, refer to your owners’ handbook or your local dealer & service centre.
Here are some tips you should do regularly to ensure that your lights are working: • Walk around your vehicle to check the operation of indicators, parking lights, headlights and tail lights. • Remove any dirt or road grime from headlights, taillights and indicators. • Ensure your headlights are aligned straight ahead and not off to one side or pointing towards the sky. • Check that both the low and high beam are functioning. • If you notice any of your lights are dull, have it looked at by your local dealer & service centre. • Take note of any shaking or wobbling as the light may have become loose.
Windscreen wipers enable you to clear your windscreen during driving. To provide you with the best possible visibility during driving, please follow the following tips: • If you notice the blades are worn, torn, cracked or damaged, replace them immediately to avoid damage to your windscreen. • If you notice the wiper blades sliding from the wiper brackets, have them replaced immediately to avoid damage to the windscreen. • Lift wiper blades from the windscreen to remove any accumulated leaves or debris and carefully wipe blades with a clean cloth. Washer fluid is required to remove dirt, grime and oil that is thrown up by other motorists. This accumulation of small granules acts as an abrasive on the windscreen. Over time, a reduction in the clarity of your windscreen will occur. • Always ensure your washer bottle is full and mixed with genuine windscreen washing additive. • Do not use an ordinary household detergent as this can damage the washer system and can cause early deterioration of the vehicles paint and seals. • Do not use water alone as it does not effectively clean the window and can reduce your visibility. For further information on your Windscreen wiper system refer to your Škoda owners handbook or your local dealer.
Any accessory that is being driven by the engine increases fuel consumption. However, the overall situation is that modern cars are designed to be very aerodynamic and anything that alters the aerodynamics will also increase fuel consumption. This means that driving with the windows down will usually increase the fuel consumption more than running the air conditioner.
Air conditioning systems run at high temperatures and have high internal pressures. In order to keep the pressure seals properly lubricated and therefore sealing correctly it is strongly recommended that Automotive Air Conditioners be run for approximately 10 minutes every week summer and winter. Some owners choose to run their air conditioners all year round to cool and dehumidify in summer and in winter in conjunction with the heater to dehumidify the air and avoid a stuffy cabin environment that can result in driver drowsiness when the heater is running at high temperatures.

The DSG mechanism consists of two standard transmissions. The intelligent transmission control identifies the next gear to be selected in accordance with the vehicle’s speed and other parametres and changes to it. For example: …driving in 3rd gear. When accelerating, the 4th gear is pre-selected and changed at the most suitable moment.
Advantages: • More fluent gearing without interruption in transmission of power; • Better acceleration; • Lower fuel consumption; • Overload protection (two temperature sensors that warn and subsequently override the system until the temperature gets down to an acceptable level).
