7-Speed DSG
Award-winning Volkswagen Group technology is behind the world-first dual-clutch gearbox with a ‘dry’ double clutch, which is the prominent component of 7-speed DSG (Direct Shift Gearbox). Using two clutches and two sets of gears, the transmission intuitively pre-selects your next gear whilst you’re still in your current gear. When it’s time to shift, the gear change takes place in just 0.03 seconds so you won’t feel a thing, just a smooth seamless change up or down the gearbox.
The other benefit of the 7-speed DSG is that it can now be combined with smaller engines, yet still achieve greater levels of power with a torque capacity up to 250Nm.
