The TDI ŠkodaOctavia RS model also features a powerful six-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG). What makes DSG so unique is that it has two separate gear sets operated by two wet multi-plate clutches. The benefit is that while one gear set and clutch is engaged driving the vehicle, the second clutch has already pre-selected the next gear and is awaiting for that gear to be engaged. As a result, the gear change only takes three-to-four 100ths of a second – there is virtually no interruption to power, traction or acceleration. The DSG also offers Tiptronic gear selection and sports mode.
